I write. The longer I live, the more convinced I’ve become that I cultivate my truest self in this one way.  – T. Chiarella

At the start of the New Year, reconnect with your muse and sculpt time to explore the creative colors of your authentic voice in community with other women. Wherever you are in your writing practice, both the Tuesday morning workshop and the Wednesday morning workshop will provide a safe, inspiring space for you to write without critique or judgment. Prompts and exercises are provided as doorways into where you most need to go with your own writing.  Participants will also have the opportunity to receive feedback from the group on works-in-progress. Tap into the great well of life residing within you and receive the gift of hearing other women’s stories. All levels of writing experience welcome.

Wednesday Writing Practice with Rhea

Our words, our truth, our imagining, our dreaming, may be the best gifts we have to give.

Pat Schneider

You have stories inside of you. Maybe some rants, poems, manifestoes, and novels too. So what keeps you from writing? Your hectic schedule, an uncertain world, or those bothersome personal fears may tell you to just forget about it. It’s not worth it. Just ignore the tug of memory, the pull of your imagination. But maybe the story is what really matters. Maybe it’s time to commit to the dance. In these weekly writing sessions, take that step and commit to listening to the writer within you. Each week, we will gather together to write, share, and respond to the writing we create together. The exercises and writing prompts are designed to guide you to your own authentic voice. The safe space we create encourages you to take risks, going where your writing has never gone before. Whether you are seasoned or new to the writer’s journey, there’s no better time than now to recharge and enliven your creativity.

Substitutes

If you have participated in a previous Portland Women Writers workshop or retreat, you are welcome to sign up as a substitute for a weekly workshop. Substituting is a great option for writers who are unable to commit to a full ten-week workshop, but who want to stay connected with our writing community.

How it works: Your name will be on a substitute list for a particular workshop, and if a regular participant knows she will be absent for a session she can contact you. If you want to attend, you pay the participant directly for the cost of that session.

If you are interested in substituting for any of the weekly workshops, contact the facilitator of that group.
