"The act of writing is a tremendous adventure into the unknown, always fraught with danger. But the deeper you go and the longer you work at your art, the greater will be your treasure." - Pat Schneider
Inner Fire: Autumn Equinox A writing and spirit workshop with Rhea Sunday, September 12, 1:00 – 5:00 pm, Multnomah Village Garden Sanctuary, $70
Early bird discount: register by September 1st for only $50!
Time to turn inward on the wheel of the year. The Autumn Equinox ushers in a season of introspection and reflection, a time to give thanks and remember our connections to nature and spirit. In this afternoon workshop, we will use guided meditations, powerful myth and personal writing to connect to the energy of harvest and to recognize the gifts of the ancestors.
At this point of balance between dark and light, we are called to release, let go and purify our lives for the coming of the winter. Return to your center and listen to the still wisdom that resides within you. This work grows from earth-based spiritual traditions, but is open to anyone with the desire to learn more about themselves and their personal power. No previous experience necessary. All women are welcome.

Poetry calls a child's face the moon. Poetry drips, drops, dips down, drumming a beat, a beat, a boom. Poetry has feelings. It sings the truth in the bones and the song in the heart.
Poetry stops us in our tracks and shouts: Look! See how beautiful that red wagon is sitting in the rain. Listen! To the dripping faucet whispering its secrets.
Poetry is pancakes for Sunday breakfast. Poetry is the love you feel for your grandma. Poetry is the last leaf clinging to summer's tree.
Come join us once a month to play with the images and music hidden in language. These Friday evenings are ideal for both those who don't consider themselves poets and those who wish to stay connected to the poetic heart. No writing experience necessary.
Nurturing our Bodies, Honoring our Stories A One-day Yin Yoga and Writing Retreat for Women with Emily and Dawn Sunday, October 10th, 10:00am-4:00pm Hidden Lake Retreat, Eagle Creek (45 minutes from downtown Portland) www.hiddenlakeretreat.org $130.00
Early Bird Special of $115.00 when you sign up by September 5th!
We invite you to Hidden Lake Retreat, a magical sanctuary of exquisite
beauty, for a day of Yin yoga, writing, and an organic mid-day meal.
In
the Fall, our bodies long to slow down and return to our own inner
landscape where deep stillness and wisdom reside. This sculpting of time
and space to be with our bodies and muse are essential for our
well-being as women. When we gift ourselves with a day to reconnect with
our very tissue, our hearts, and our voices, we are restored and
rejuvenated.
We will alternate between writing from the body and
practicing Yin yoga. Yin yoga is a deeply relaxing practice that
targets the connective tissue, which responds to slow, gentle,
persistent stretching. The benefits include increasing the range of
motion in the joints, and improving the flow of energy through the body.
When we allow ourselves to drop in, there is deep listening,
receptivity and healing. We return to our true nature. Please join us.
This workshop is limited to 10 participants. No writing or yoga experience is necessary.
Mothers & Motherhood: Writing our Stories with Traci Schatz & Dawn Thompson Saturday, December 11th, 10:00am-3:00pm, in SE Portland (Sellwood), $75
When you hear the word mother, what comes to mind? What is your relationship like with your own mother? What does motherhood mean to you? Join us for an opportunity to explore this multi-faceted and profound role in a safe and supportive environment.
Do you have stories about the lineage of mothers in your family? Are you a new mother, an experienced pro, a single parent? Are you parenting your grandchildren or directing your maternal energy to other young people in your life? Perhaps you have no children by choice or circumstance and want to explore what it's like to walk a path of not being a mother in our culture today. How are mothers treated in our society?
Thoughts and feelings about this powerful role and archetype impact every woman's life. In this workshop, we'll have a chance to gather together with other women to write and to share our stories.
